CNA- Certified Nurse’s Assistant
CHHA- Certified Home Health Aide 

The objective of these program are to prepare participants to become and/or Certified Nurse’s Aides (CNA) or Certified Home Health Aides (CHHA). This training will enable them to provide the highest quality of care in a compassionate manner, all while maintaining the client’s dignity and independence. It is the expectation of the instructors the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services that the preparation received by the participants in these programs will result in knowledgeable, professional, state certified CNA and CHHA’s who will enhance the client’s quality of life. Our certified instructors are registered nurses and all of our classes are a State approved by the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.

Orientation

Orientation/registration is scheduled prior to the start of the class. Class requirements will be discussed and a class deposit will be collected to hold your seat in class. A short reading comprehension exam will be administered for CNA classes. Class times vary from 8:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday for day classes and 4:00pm-9:30pm for evening classes. A daycare center is nearby for added convenience.

 

CNA Admissions Requirements

  • Ability to pass a basic competency exam.
  • Must attest that she/he does not use illegal controlled substances.
  • Has not been found guilty of abuse, neglect or other crimes as stated in Title 26 of NJS Statutes.
  • Physical with in the past year by a Dr.
  • 2-step PPD, Mantoux screening or chest X-ray.
  • High school diploma/GED/Transcript.

Career Counseling

Karing With Kindness Agency will also offer all CHHA and CNA Students for employment. Our goal is to continue our relationships, So please join our Karing with Kindness work family. Participants will be given all the necessary training and documentation to obtain gainful employment. Area facilities will also hold job recruitment during some classes.

Books & Supplies

All books and materials will be available to the participants during the class. Additional study guides may be purchased.

Testing

The CHHA test will be administrated at the facility by a NJ Registered Nurse/Instructor. A minimum passing grade of 70% is required. The CNA Clinic skills evaluation will be given by a NJ State Certified Evaluator. The CNA written test will be done off-site. 

Dispute Resolution

Students who have a complaint or who would like to appeal a dismissal must request in writing an appointment for an interview with the school director. The written request should include the following: 

Student’s full name, last four digits of their Social Security Number (or student number) and current address. A statement of the concern, including: dates, times, instructors and, if applicable, other students involved. Date of complaint letter and signature of the student. Three dates in which the student would be available for a meeting with the school director and/or appeal panel. The school director will notify student in writing of the appointment date in which the concerns or appeal will be addressed. every effort will be made to bring an amicable closure to the concern. Should it be necessary, a panel of instructors will hear the concerns and will be asked to assist in bringing a resolution to concerns and/or appeals. The student will be notified in writing within five business days of the outcome of the meetings. The decision of the director and/or appeal panel is final. Should the contract be cancelled by either the student or the school, the date on the complaint letter will be used to calculate any refund, in accordance with the school’s refund policy.

Payment & Refund

A registration fee is due before the start of class to hold your seat. If unable to attend the originally scheduled class, this deposit can be used to hold your position in a future class, provided you notify us in writing one week before your scheduled start date. If you are a no-call, no-show by the class start date,  you will forfeit your registration fee. Full payment must be made by the end of the second week of class.

Class Size

Classes are limited to twenty (20) participants. Clinical instructions is limited to ten (10) participants. Any class over ten (10) will be staffed with one primary instructor and one clinical instructor.

Class Location

All classes will be held at 2801 Route 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753 and 700 New Road, Linwood NJ, 08221. Our building can be reached via public transportation and is handicapped accessible. Ample parking is available to participants.

Program Closing Days

New Years, Martin Luther King Jr., President’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
In the event of an unannounced school closure, students enrolled at the time of the closure must contact the Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Training Evaluation Unit within ninety (90) calendar days of the closure.  Failure to do so within the ninety (90) days may exclude the student from any available form of assistance.  The contact number to call is (609)292-4287.

Code Of Conduct

All students are to treat everyone with respect. Anyone being disrespectful will be dismissed from class.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is mandatory. Should a true emergency take place, please call both the school and the instructor. If you miss a class you MUST attend the make-up days. If you do not attend make-up days or have excess absents you will have to drop your class and will lose any payments towards class.

Financial Aid

Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
